  AIMS & OBJECTIVES


Theoretic knowledge on selected specific wrist procedures will be presented. Training on exposure, instability reconstruction technique, osteotomy, and resection arthroplasty will be given including planning, instrument handling, guiding, dexterity, implanting and resection. Preventing, recognizing and management of complications will be discussed. Trainees will be able to perform hands-on practice in programmed techniques on fresh-frozen human cadavers.

  

  COURSE CONTENT

 

1 - Lectures in selected surgical procedures

  • Dorsal wrist exposure
  • Scapholunate ligament reconstruction
  • Ulnar shortening osteotomy
  • Radius corrective osteotomy
  • Proximal row carpectomy

2- Hands-on training on fresh-frozen human cadavers:

  • Performing dorsal wrist exposure
  • Performing scapholunate ligament reconstruction using flexor carpi radialis tendon
  • Performing ulnar shortening osteotomy using volar exposure and fixation with plate and screws
  • Performing radius corrective osteotomy using volar exposure and fixation with plate aand screws
  • Performing proximal row carpectomy

 

  EDUCATIONAL METHODS

 

  • Audiovisual materials & video presentations
  • Introduction and presentations in guidelines of equipment, materilas, and hardware
  • Surgical training on fresh-frozen human cadavers
